The Art of Dominating the Order Book: Target Position and Overtake Step

In the dynamic world of P2P arbitrage, the winner is not the one feverishly refreshing the browser page every ten seconds, but the one whose automation acts with mathematical precision. Two foundational parameters in Pilotbot govern your ad positioning: Target Position and Overtake Step.

Together, they establish a foolproof formula for success: exactly where your ad should sit in the exchange order book and by what margin it should outperform the nearest rival.

Parameter Architecture: Target Position

Target position is your desired rank in the order book. A value of 1 signifies absolute leadership (the very first row of the listings), 2 means second place directly below the leader, 3 means third, and so on. Every few seconds, Pilotbot scans live market quotes and calculates the exact price required to hit that specific tier.

  • Range: Integer from 0 to 100.
  • Default value: 1 (aggressive capture of maximum incoming order flow).
  • Special mode 0: Disables chasing a specific row. This is the ideal choice for defensive spread strategies and market making, where the core objective is locking in a target spread and profit rather than fighting for a specific spot in the book at all costs.

How Pilotbot Calculates Position: Intelligent Filtering

A frequent question from traders is: "Why does the exchange show me on row 15, while the Pilotbot dashboard indicates position #2?"

The answer lies in intelligent targeting. A raw row number in the exchange's unfiltered order book is meaningless, because a real buyer always applies filters. Pilotbot calculates rank strictly among ads that genuinely compete for the exact same order:

  1. Payment Method: Do the banks and payment systems match (Sberbank, T-Bank, SBP, Raiffeisen, Kaspi, etc.).
  2. Limit Overlap: Can an incoming buyer with a specific trade volume (e.g. 50,000 ₽) trade with you and the competitor simultaneously.
  3. Trust Filters: Is the "Verified Merchants Only" toggle enabled.
  4. Whitelists and Blacklists: Are dumping bots excluded via the "Ignore" list, and is the bot focused on a specific "Compete Only With" list.

Pilotbot cuts through market noise and isolates an accurate commercial cross-section — the exact view your creditworthy client sees.

Order Book Nuances: The Equal Price Rule

P2P trading operates under the standard exchange principle of time priority (FIFO — First In, First Out). If a competitor's ad is placed at the exact same price as yours, the exchange will always display the ad that was published earlier higher in the list.

Pilotbot is fully synchronized with this logic: any ad with an identical price is considered to be ranked above you.

Concrete Example (USDT / THB Buy)

Imagine your current buy price is 32.89, and two competitors already sit in the order book at that exact price:

Order Book RankOrder PriceOwnership
1 – 4Higher than 32.89Competitor ads (ahead)
532.89Competitor A (placed earlier)
632.89Competitor B (placed earlier)
732.89Your Ad (Pilotbot)

If the calculation were naive ("who has a strictly higher price than me"), one might expect 5th place. But a real buyer will fill orders from Competitors A and B first. Therefore, the algorithm honestly records: your real rank in the order book is 7.

Snapshot Dynamics: Why the Numbers Update

Order books on liquid trading pairs reshuffle literally every second: competitors go offline, orders get filled, spreads tighten.

Pilotbot recalculates positions based on real-time Order Book Snapshots. If a position number seems out of sync with your personal glance at the market, simply hover over the position number in the dashboard — a tooltip will display the exact timestamp of the snapshot used for that calculation.

Overtake Step: Surgical Precision of the Gap

While target position dictates direction, the Overtake Step determines the margin of victory over your competitor. This is the exact amount by which the bot improves the price to guarantee passing the rival and securing the desired spot in the book:

  • Default step: 0.01 in the quote currency. This minimum spread clearance is sufficient for the exchange to rank you first without surrendering an extra kopeck or cent of margin to the market.
  • Increased step: Creates a pronounced visual advantage (attracting the attention of large takers), but sacrifices part of your margin.
  • Minimum step: Conserves every fraction of a percent of profit in tight, crowded order books.

Synergy: An Unbeatable Blend of Speed and Safety

Target Position commands: "Secure rank #1". Overtake Step specifies: "Outbid the nearest competitor by exactly 0.01". And the built-in Safety Corridor enforces: "Under no circumstances trade at a loss or exceed risk boundaries".

Thanks to this harmonious coordination, Pilotbot reliably keeps your ads at peak liquidity 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — shielding your deposit from anomalies and order book manipulation.
